On May 10th 2012, PARAMOUNT LIFE & GENERAL INSURANCE CORPORATION (PLGIC) sent its top performing Life Insurance Agents to Shanghai, China for their incentive trip.  The travel incentive celebrated the production of at least P1 million in premium sales from January 2011 to December 2011. Paramount Life Officers Rudy Sibal (Life Operations), Erwin Sadorra (Actuarial Department), Meng Dalusong (Policy Services & Claims Department), and Gay Mendoza (Agency Services Department) accompanied the winners to Shanghai, where they stayed at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Centre and immersed themselves for five days and four nights in the culture, sights, and flavors of  the city.

Their itinerary was packed with attractions, shopping, and food tasting.  They visited the Mandarin Yuyuan Garden, People’s Square, Tongrentang, and Huai Hai Road.  They also took pleasure in the sights at The Bund where they saw Shanghai’s waterfront of historical and modern buildings and wharves.  The group’s interest was heightened when they visited the historical sights of Shanghai Old Town, where they were drawn to the buildings and teahouses’ traditional and intricate architecture. The agents also took part in a unique experience, taking a gondola ride along the “Venice of the East’s” waterways at the Zhouzhuang Water Villages. However, the agents’ sight-seeing was not limited to Shanghai’s historical beauties; the city’s more modern attractions also made an impression. A thrilling visit to the 1,535 ft-high Oriental Pearl TV Tower suspended the agents on the 295ft glass flooring of the Space City deck above Shanghai’s busy streets. The agents left the Era Show amazed, where they witnessed performances of cultural stunts and high-tech circus acrobatics.   The group ensured that they did not leave China empty-handed, as they engaged in a  shopping spree at the Kitchenwares Store, Silk and Pearl shops, and splurged on wares on Nanjing Road, the world’s busiest shopping street boasting 58 buildings of Shanghai fashion and internationally known brands. The icing on the cake came with a 300 kph Maglev Train ride that took only eight minutes to get to Pudong and spreads of yummy and famous Shanghainese treats such as Xiao Long Bao, Pata Tim, Roasted Chicken, and other delectable Dim Sum offerings.

The trip would not be complete without spending a memorable dinner with the Company’s CEO Patrick L. Go, and Executive Vice Chairman Rosanna L. Go at the Shanghai Min Restaurant at Xian Tiang Di during the last night in Shanghai. Many joyful moments were captured in photos and videos that both agents and Paramount officers took during the trip, making the trip to Shanghai an impossible one to forget.

After the trip came to an end; the experience and stories fueled the drive, enthusiasm and expectations of the life agents, and motivated new agents to join the Paramount family. The Shanghai experience reminded and encouraged agents both new and old, to reach and achieve their career and personal goals in the hopes of qualifying and participating in the next cultural and life-enhancing trip to majestic Dubai.
